COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
Companions on a Journey’s Mission, in the field of social services, is to reach out to those who grieve and educate those who do not understand grief and support those individuals, schools, businesses and organizations seeking grief support. We offer a number of programs to help adults and teens in dealing with there specific loss.
Programs / topics:
  • Hope, Strength and Healing Through Grief (yearly retreat day)
  • Understanding Children and Teen Grief
  • The Grief that Comes When a Parent, Sibling or Friend Dies
  • Grief in the Workplace
  • Grief in Retirement Communities
  • When a Loved One has died from Suicide
  • “Why is the Happening to Me?” Tips for Grief Recovery day long workshop, Nov. 14, 2009, St. Susanna Church, Mason, OH
  • Taking Time to Remember, Dec 14th, St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish Center
  • Support Groups:
  • Introduction/Orientation to Companions on a Journey Grief Support
  • Child Loss
  • Living Again, Widowed
  • New Beginnings, Widowed
  • Young Widowed
  • Survivors After Suicide (Only group addressing suicide in Butler County and is the 11th leading cause of death and 3 leading cause of young adult death)
  • Open Grief / Parent, Sibling and Friends
  • Perinatal/Neonatal Loss Group
  • Survivors After Suicide
  • Young Adult Grief Support Group
  • Grief to Peace (3 separate groups at Gwen Mooney Funeral Home, Spring Grove Cemetery)
  • Services:
  • Teens in Grief Support Program
  • 4 separate groups at the Lakota East and West High and Freshman Schools, West Chester, OH.
  • 2 groups at Moeller High School. Montgomery, OH (Teens in Grief & Suicide Prevention)
  • Sycamore High School, Cinti. Oh (Suicide Prevention)
  • Mount Notre Dame, Reading, OH
  • Bishop Fenwick High School, Middletown, OH
  • Private Grief Mentoring,
  • Condolence letters and information
  • A Lunch Bunch, Travel, and Outing’s Group
  • COJ’s Outing Group (movies, restaurants, book readings, plays, etc.)
  • COJ’s Travel Group (short overnight trips)

    COJ is a social service organization which provides bereavement support and educational services for teens and adults.  COJ does not provide any counseling or related services which require a license under Chapter 4757 of the Ohio Revised Code.  COJ is a section 501(c)(3) organization.
