Those involved with COJ as staff / board members, volunteers have endured the death of a loved one and hold compassion, understanding, and confidentiality, as there core values. We would not be the service organization that we are today with out them.
Sheila Munafo-Kanoza
- President, Executive Director and founder of Companions on a Journey Grief Support, Inc.
- Grief educator, lector, support, leader, published author. She specializes in crisis intervention, widowed, family, and teen grief. QPR Trained in suicide prevention.
- Attended Miami University and is a former sales representative for Proctor and Gamble. Entered the field of bereavement care after being widowed 16 years ago
.
- Trained by and worked with specialists and families in Oklahoma City and in New York City after “9-11”.
- Lead support groups for 12 years throughout the tri-state and is working on publishing her first book, Seasons of Grief.
- Member of the American Academy of Bereavement is a nationally trained Advanced Bereavement Facilitator.
- Member of the Hamilton County Suicide Prevention Coalition, the Tri-State Suicide Prevention Coalition, Grief Networks of Cincinnati and founder of the Parish Bereavement Network.
Linda Sullivan
- Vice President and Associate Director of Companions on a Journey Grief Support, Inc.
- Grief educator, lector, support leader and published author, specializing in child loss, family grief issues, seniors who grieve and is editor of “Season in Grief” newsletter.
- Holds an A.S. degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
- Currently works full time as a Medical Transcriptionist.
- Her first child died shortly after birth. After raising 3 subsequent children, Linda was called to the field of bereavement to help others learn to live with their feelings after the loss of a loved one.
- Member of the American Academy of Bereavement and is a nationally trained Advanced Bereavement Facilitator.
- Member of the Grief network of Cincinnati and a co-leader of the Parish Bereavement Network.
Tom Kanoza
- He is a grief educator, lector, support leader and published author.
- Tom has been with General Electric for 25 years. He holds two degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Industrial Management from the University of Cincinnati.
- He is a Senior Master Sergeant for the US Air Force Reserves, which he has been a member now for 30 years. He is Six Sigma Quality certified, and is also a Certified Communicator with Toastmasters Int.
- Tom entered the field of bereavement care after being widowed 15 years ago. Likes to explore aspects of men’s grief and how to make it a part of your life.
- He is a member of the American Academy of Bereavement and is a nationally trained Advance Bereavement Facilitator.

COJ is a social service organization which provides bereavement support and educational services for teens and adults. COJ does not provide any counseling or related services which require a license under Chapter 4757 of the Ohio Revised Code. COJ is a section 501(c)(3) organization.
