About Crisis Response & Postvention Support
COJ’s Crisis Response Program offers compassionate, tailored support to schools, businesses, and community organizations navigating the aftermath of a death. Each response is customized to meet the unique needs of the requesting institution and can include:
Staff-Wide Education & Training
Guidance for educators and personnel on recognizing grief in children and teens, along with practical strategies for offering meaningful support.
Small Group Peer Support Sessions
Facilitated activities that encourage students to express emotions, share memories, and connect with others experiencing similar loss.
Whole-Community Grief Education
Presentations to the broader student body or organization that explain what grief is and help normalize the wide range of grief responses.
Crisis Debrief & Follow-Up
Dedicated time for staff or organizational leaders to process the event, reflect on their experiences, and receive continued support.
