For nearly 30 years, Companions on a Journey Grief Support has provided hope, healing, and ongoing support to grieving children, teens, adults, and families throughout our community. As the need for our bereavement services continues to grow, so does our staff and the number of individuals we serve each day. We are now searching for a new home that will allow us to continue expanding our mission and ensuring that no one grieves alone.

Our Need

We are seeking a compassionate property owner or community partner who may be willing to work with our nonprofit organization by providing a larger, well-maintained office space at a significantly reduced lease rate. As a nonprofit organization, our current budget allows us to spend up to $1,750 per month, including utilities, electricity, and trash collection. We recognize this is well below current market rates, but we hope there may be someone who believes in the importance of supporting grieving families and is willing to partner with us by making this space available.

In addition to making a meaningful difference in the lives of grieving families, the difference between your property’s fair market rental value and the lease amount paid by COJ may qualify as an in-kind charitable contribution. We encourage interested property owners to consult with their tax advisor regarding the potential tax benefits of such a partnership.

Preferred Property Requirements
  • Approximately 4,000–5,000 square feet
  • Preferred locations:
    o West Chester
    o Liberty Township
  • Easy access with ample parking
  • Bright space with natural light/windows
  • Elevator access if located on an upper or lower level
  • Well-maintained building with exterior maintenance provided by the owner
  • Accessible parking and entrances
  • Utilities (electricity, water, and trash collection) included whenever possible
Space Needed

To effectively serve the growing needs of our community, we are seeking space for:

  • 6-8 offices
  • 3-4 shared working spaces
  • Welcoming reception area
  • Workroom/copy and resource room
  • Conference and training room
  • Coffee and staff gathering area
  • Restrooms
Why This Matters

Every week, children who have lost a parent, spouses grieving lifelong partners, parents mourning the death of a child, and families devastated by suicide, overdose, illness, and sudden tragedy walk through our doors seeking hope. A larger space will allow us to expand our programs, serve more grieving families, train additional volunteers and interns, and continue providing compassionate support for years to come.
