As we roll into the month of November, we start to notice a lot of change happening all around. The leaves that were once vibrant green turn colors and start to become piles in our yards; the weather starts to get colder, and people begin to take down their Halloween decorations in preparation for Thanksgiving and Christmas. How can we piggyback on all of this outdoor change to spur change in our personal lives? We recommend looking for and making small changes to your daily routine when you sense the need for a shift in some area of your life.
Routines can promote stability, peace of mind, and goal setting. A small shift in your routine can be as simple as taking 10 minutes each morning to sit down to mindfully enjoy your coffee, rather than hastily drinking it and eating breakfast during your morning commute. This type of change can bring a little peace and even benefit your overall health.
What are the routines you have in your day-to-day life? We suggest taking a little time to look for small changes that would bring some additional peace to your mind each day. Take 5-10 minutes to jot down some ideas. Then, think through which of those ideas you’d like to implement and make a plan for doing so. We also recommend picking a date to get started on that little change as soon as possible. We often put off making changes, and getting started can be the hardest part. Hopefully, once you get started this will be something that feels positive enough to continue, and that you soon find some extra peace in your life!
