It can feel jarring to go from the routines of the school year to the much less structured summertime, especially for a child who is grieving. So how can parents create routine for their kids to help with this during the summer months?

One fun idea is to have a theme for each day of the week. For example, Mondays might be Park Day, in which you take the kids to a new or favorite park every Monday. Tuesdays may be Pool Day, and Wednesdays can be Picnic Day. Other examples include Movie Day, Ice Cream Day, Library Day…name your own adventure here! These outings can help create some structure and predictability and also lessen the challenge of coming up with new ideas all of the time. What ideas do you have for theme days?
