Routines can help to create stability and predictability in your home. For a grieving child, this can be helpful as their feelings and thoughts may be all over the place, so knowing what to expect at home provides much-needed respite. As children transition back to school, consider what routines you want to set in place for them. Are there daily routines or weekly rhythms that you can start or re-start for the school year? For example, having snacks and meals around the same time can provide stability. Or, doing a weekly movie or game night on Fridays is not only fun for the family but can be an anchor for your child. Of course, there are times when we may need to change our plans; be sure to communicate this change in plans and make alternate arrangements.

What routines do you currently have in place in your home that bring stability and peace? Are there new routines that you would like to introduce to your family?
