When I went back to school (after my mom died), I kind of prepared myself more. I missed a lot of school when she was in hospice or in the hospital. I was spending a lot of time there, and I feel like a lot of people kind of already knew what was going on. I kind of just wanted to be treated normal. I didn’t want anyone to be any different towards me because I feel like that would just make me more upset. COJ has helped me by bringing together a big group of people to give me support and empathy, make me feel welcome and comfortable, and helped me to share my experiences.
